The Z9 Turbo outdid its near namesake the Redmi Turbo 3 in terms of battery capacity in April 2024. However, that was then and this is now, when new Android flagships have made such specs so much the norm that it is not so much of a selling point any more.
iQoo is about to fix that with the Z9 Turbo "Endurance Edition", according to the prolific leaker Digital Chat Station. The tipster has yet to hint at exactly how much bigger its new battery might be, however.
It is possible that it could be 6,400mAh, like the Z9 Turbo's own Plus variant, although that will not do much to compete with potential rivals such as the Realme Neo 7.
On that note, iQoo allegedly intends to stick with the rest of the Z9 Turbo's original specs in the 'extended' version, which implies the retention of a 6.78-inch 144Hz display driven by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC - which might not be so attractive should its 8s Elite successor raise its head in 2025 as rumored.
That might be less of an issue compared to the "Endurance Edition's" charging speed, which is said to be kept at 80W. Accordingly, its potential advantage as a battery powerhouse might be tempered somewhat by even longer charging times compared to the real Z9 Turbo.
Nevertheless, a refresh for this relatively affordable yet efficient smartphone might improve its chances of hitting the global market this time alongside iQoo's new flagship the 13, now available for a "today (December 21, 2024) only" discounted price of INR 54,999 on Amazon.in.
