iPhone 16 series: Apparent generational design changes showcased in new video
2024's iPhones have hit a popular YouTube channel well in advance of their official launch by Apple - with some caveats. In fact, as host Lewis Hilsentegger notes, Unbox Therapy has in fact received what might be the next best thing at this point, which is non-working dummies probably circulating around case-makers in China at the time of writing.
Each of these inert models give a good impression of being updated iPhones based on the latest leaks, which, for example, specify the reinstatement of the iPhone X camera hump to the vanilla 16 and 16 Plus.
Apart from their binocular rear shooters, the 2 dummies seem nearly identical in width and thickness to their respective 15-series predecessors, whereas the "iPhone 16 Pro" and "Pro Max" have allegedly gained some height on their own forebears.
Hilsentegger found that the "16 Pro" dummy was 2.92 millimeters (mm, or .1149 inches (in)) longer than the 15 Pro, at 149.72mm (5.8495in) compared to 146.8mm (5.7795in) in the real Apple handset, with a similar "significant" delta between the current Pro Max and its supposed successor.
Unbox Therapy was unable to confirm the presence of titanium in any of its new iPhone 16-series dummies outright, although there was a (literally) cooler new shade of pink evident in the base-model "16", whereas the 3 others were finished in more predictable deep black and white/silver finishes.
Finally, the upcoming iPhones were portrayed as having an extra side-mounted button, posited as a dedicated Apple Intelligence switch rather than the Action Button debuted with the outgoing Apple flagships.
