iFi iDSD GR 2 portable DAC debuts with high‑impedance headphone support, LDAC, and aptX Lossless

iFi has announced the iDSD GR 2, a portable digital audio converter (DAC) for music lovers, with support for high-resolution music sources and the ability to restore missing high-frequency elements in lossy sources.
Thanks to a Burr-Brown PCM1795 chipset, the DAC supports lossless PCM 768kHz and DSD512 decoding while driving headphones with up to 1,513 mW of RMS power (2,173 mW peak) at 32 ohms.
Besides supporting 3.5 mm unbalanced and 4.4 mm balanced wired headphones, the iDSD GR 2 also supports wireless headphones with Hi-Res Audio compatibility thanks to the inclusion of aptX Lossless, LDAC, and LHDC high-resolution Bluetooth audio codecs.
Additional support for SBC, AAC, aptX, and aptX Adaptive codecs is included, and JVCKenwood K2HD processing restores depth, tone, and musicality to compressed audio sources, says iFi. The DAC also accepts S/PDIF optical and coaxial inputs.
The iDSD GR 2 is controlled by a color OLED touchscreen, but additional fine-tuning features and OTA updates are available through the iFi Nexus app for Android smartphones. A 4,900 mAh lithium-polymer battery powers the DAC for up to 7 hours and recharges in 3.5 hours, according to the company.
The compact DAC measures 141 x 75 x 19 mm (5.55 x 2.95 x 0.75 in.) and weighs 268 g (0.59 lbs.).
The iDSD GR 2 DAC can be pre-ordered from iFi for $529, with shipping commencing July 6, 2026. Readers can browse the company's other offerings in the iFi store on Amazon.
