Some Huawei Mate 20 Pro owners have been complaining about the display of their brand-new flagship device. A green hue has been seen on faulty handsets, to the extent that it becomes quite visible under certain conditions. The cause of the verdant tint has yet to be fully explained; affected consumers have been offered replacements in some countries.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been received very warmly, receiving high praise for its triple camera setup, its impressive specifications, and its superior OLED panel. However, it seems the latter feature has been causing some consternation among owners, with some unlucky users experiencing a strong green tint on the display when used in dark surroundings.

The cause of the emerald emission is currently unexplained, although it has been mentioned that the screen-bleeding effect could be viewing-angle discoloration. However, users with a faulty device have not taken this explanation well, with others opining that it could be the fault of the glue that Huawei uses during the phone’s construction or even the LG variant of the panel that's to blame.

A spokesperson for Huawei Finland has accepted there seems to be a display issue with some Mate 20 Pro smartphones, and the company is willing to exchange faulty devices with new ones, for no extra charge. It remains to be seen what Huawei’s official explanation for the Slimer-reminiscent tint will be.
