Huawei released its Mate 20 flagships a few months ago, and the devices are finally set to make their way to India. Well, device, for the most part, as it would appear that only the Mate 20 Pro will be sold in that market.
Huawei may be the second-biggest smartphone brand in the world but the company has failed to truly make its mark on the Indian smartphone, a market that’s equally the second-largest in the world, just behind China where Huawei reigns supreme. The Indian smartphone market is heavily biased towards value for money devices, a major reason for OnePlus’s dominance in the premium segment of the market. As such, it’ll be interesting to see how Huawei prices the Mate 20 Pro. Of course, we have a feeling the Chinese company would prefer to leave its high-value offerings and the associating price war to its Honor sub-brand.
While Indians may feel the Mate 20 Pro is late to the party, buyers of the device in that market may just come out on top. The Mate flagship has played culprit to a number of display discoloration issues, and there’s a chance that buyers in India only get access to units without the defect. That is, of course, under the assumption that Huawei stopped production and worked out the kinks in the manufacturing process. We wouldn’t count on it.
The Mate 20 Pro is said to be billed for a November 27 launch in India.
