A new dual-screen handheld is reported to be on the way to challenge the Anbernic RG DS. However, while it has a similar design to its rival but will have an integrated stylus like the Nintendo DS.

Last November, Anbernic launched the RG DS as a dual-screen gaming handheld with a design that reminds us of the Nintendo DS. Now, a new brand wants to bring a challenger to the market, but what is more interesting is the similarity to the Anbernic RG DS.

The handheld is reported to launch as the Yoniq Duo and is made by a company known as Yoniq. Not much is known about Yoniq, save for having a few gaming accessories such as controllers. However, Retrododo says the manufacturer shared that they have a huge business in China and have worked with hundreds of gaming brands, although they didn't mention any specific one.

In the marketing email sent to the publication, Yoniq revealed that the Yoniq Duo features high-definition dual screens with 4x pixel-perfect scaling. It also has a built-in stylus, just like the Nintendo DS. The included image of the handheld, which seems to be a mockup, shows the device looks like the Anbernic RG DS, save for some few differences.

For starters, it has three LEDs for Wi-Fi, location, and power where the left hinge is. It also has purple thumbsticks and D-pad. Unfortunately, no ports are visible, so we don't know if they are in the same positions as those on the Anbernic RG DS (available on Amazon for $129.99). It is also worth mentioning that Anbernic's handheld lacks an integrated stylus, but ships with a capacitive stylus.

The Anbernic RG DS is an Android-powered dual-screen handheld reminiscent of the Nintendo DS.

The image also shows a render of a handheld that looks like a DualShock controller with a screen in between. Think of it as a PlayStation Portal that was made in the PS2/PS3 era.

No details have been revealed about the specs, pricing, and availability. However, Youniq says they will be attending Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany and will be at Hall 10.1, Booth C-052G. So maybe more details will be shared at the event.
