Xiaomi is currently crowdfunding for the Xiaobai Blade Star smart front door. You can unlock the door in seven ways, including facial recognition, fingerprint, NFC and password. The door has two screens, a 5-in (~12.7 cm) external touchscreen and a 10.1-in (~25.7 cm) internal tablet-like display.
The device has over 2,800 components, including a MediaTek Kompanio 500 eight-core processor. This is used to power the door’s financial grade 3D facial recognition technology, which takes less than 0.3 s to recognise you. Xiaomi claims that the device has a 0.0001% error rate and can record up to 255 faces that it can register from 0.3 to 1 m (~1 to 3 ft) away.
The gadget comes with multiple sensors, including a 1080P HD camera with a 150° super wide-angle, an infrared night vision camera and a PIR sensor. The smart door also has a microphone, allowing you to speak to anyone at your door.
The device can trigger smartphone notifications for when a stranger is detected near your door or if you accidentally leave it open. You can control the Xiaobai Blade Star smart door and connect it to other smart home products using the Mijia app.
The smart door has a layer of reinforced iron and is 90 mm (~3.5-in) thick. The gadget is available in two colors, with right and left opening options and various sizes up to 2150 x 1160 mm (~85 x 46-in).
You can pre-order the Xiaobai Blade Star smart front door in China for 7,999 yuan (~US$1,255). After this pre-sale period, the product will retail for 12,999 yuan (~US$2,040). The gadget is due to ship on June 11th.
