Aqara has launched the Smart Curtain Companion E1, an adapter to transform ordinary curtains into smart curtains. The gadget works out of the box and is compatible with U and I shaped curtain tracks and Roman poles.
The gadget supports Apple HomeKit, allowing you to control the curtains via your iPhone, Apple Watch or Siri voice commands. Alternatively, you can control the adapter via the Aqara Home app, Xiao Qiao or Xiao AI voice commands. The product is also compatible with Zigbee 3.0, allowing you to connect it to other devices.
With the Aqara Smart Curtain Companion E1, you can open and close your curtains remotely or select a particular open ratio. You can control each curtain independently, and a gentle pull on the curtain will trigger it to open automatically.
You can schedule your curtains to open at a particular time, which could be used to protect your house when you are away or wake you up with natural light. The curtain adapter has a light sensor, so it can automatically open or close the curtains when it’s sunny.
The device has a 6,400 mAh lithium battery that can provide up to 10 months of life. You will get a 15% low battery reminder, and the battery can be recharged via USB-C. The adapter measures 140.5 x 96 x 44 mm (~5.5 x 3.8 x 1.7-in), can bear loads up to 12 kg (~26.5 lbs) and operates at 12 cm/s (~4.7-in/s).
You can now pre-order the Aqara Smart Curtain Companion E1 in China for 329 yuan (~USD$51). The device was leaked by a European online store in January, suggesting that this gadget may be available in other markets later.
