Xiaomi unveils a new 200W fast-charging system for next-gen smartphones
Xiaomi is an OEM that currently offers phones with up to 120W wired charging. However, it now claims that their successors will blow them out of the water in this respect, thanks to its latest HyperCharge brick. This technology is rated for up to 200W, which might cut time spent tethered to the wall by a good margin.
The company's official Twitter channel purports to demonstrate this new development by pairing it to a Mi 11 Pro adapted to use the new system. This device's 4,00mAh battery was shown to charge from 0 to 50% in 3 miniutes, before progressing to 100% just 5 minutes later. Those figures fly past those linked to phones such as the RedMagic 6 Pro, which has a 120W variant rated to fully charge a 4,500mAh battery in 17 minutes.
Xiaomi has also announced what looks like a direct upgrade for its most premium 80W wireless charging stand today. This accessory upgrades to no less than 120W, apparently capable of charging the customized Mi 11 Pro to 50% in 7 minutes, or to 100% in 15 minutes.
Therefore, we might see these new specs in future devices such as those of the Mi 12 series - or maybe even the next Mi Mix or Mi Mix Fold. Then again, Xiaomi's highest-end wireless charging accessories rarely make it outside of China; for example, its 20W accessory for cars is the best to be found on Amazon.com at the moment. Hopefully, this will change on the launch of this new HyperCharge system.
