Xiaomi teases the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro ahead of mid-March release
The Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro impressed us during our time with them last year. However, neither DxOMark nor we were enamoured with the 64 MP Samsung Bright GW1 in the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Similarly, the 48 MP Samsung GM1 in the regular Redmi Note 8 is good, but its high megapixel count does not mean that it can markedly outperform its competitors. The Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are both good value for money, though.
Nonetheless, Xiaomi is already replacing the seven-month-old series. Teased on Twitter, Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi Note 9 series on March 12. Presumably launching in India, Manu Kumar Jain, the Global VP of Xiaomi and MD of Xiaomi India claims that the Redmi Note 9 series is "going to be nothing like you've ever seen before".
To that end, it seems that Xiaomi is focusing on camera capabilities and performance with the Redmi Note 9 series, going by the #ProCamerasMaxPerformance hashtag. While little else is known about the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro, Xiaomi may have already given fans a peek at one SKU in the series. Spotted hiding under some paperwork in a photo tweeted by @manukumarjain, the Redmi Note 9 series appears to have a 3.5 mm headphone jack, along with a glass back that has a mirrored finish. The series will support quick charging too, according to other promotional material published online.
Other details remain unknown, for the time being. Expect Xiaomi and Redmi to tease more about the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi Note 9 Pro in the coming days, though.
