Xiaomi Mi A3 owners awake to another disappointing update
Xiaomi France already set expectations that the Mi A3 would not receive Android 10 after all this month, with the division stating that the OS upgrade would arrive in March, instead. Now, the company is blaming the coronavirus outbreak for delaying the release of Android 10. In a two-part tweet, the brand lead at Xiaomi India informed his followers:
Over the past few days a lot of you have reached out to us regarding the pending Android 10 update on Mi A3. The update was scheduled for mid February but it has been delayed due to the extended shutdown due to the global outbreak of coronavirus.
At Xiaomi, business is critical but the value of human life is the topmost priority. We are working towards getting the final certification on the update and will communicate the rollout plan very soon.
I thank each one of you for your patience and continued support.
In a separate tweet, Sumit Sonal stated that Xiaomi is in the "last stages of getting the final certification on the [Android 10] update". However, fans are not buying Xiaomi's excuses. As some have pointed out, the Mi A3 should have already received Android 10 going by the company's original estimate. Additionally, Xiaomi has found time to release a new security patch update to the Mi A3, which has just started rolling out to handsets.
Furthermore, COVID-19 has not prevented Xiaomi from releasing a slew of updates to other handsets since the WHO declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on January 30. According to previous rumours, Xiaomi will formally announce a rollout for Android 10 on the Mi A3 in the first week of March.
