While Xiaomi is still yet to announce when the Mi A3 will receive Android 10, a build containing the OS upgrade has gone live. The update, which can be downloaded now, brings other optimisations besides Android 10 to the Mi A3 too.

The Android 10 update for the Mi A3 has been dogged by delays. While Xiaomi initially promised that the Mi A3 would be one of the first devices to receive Android 10, even its predecessor beat it to Google's latest OS. With Xiaomi now blaming the COVID-19 outbreak for delays to the release of Android 10, it did not seem likely that the upgrade would arrive anytime soon. Xiaomi had mentioned a March rollout being likely, but that it would "communicate the rollout plan very soon".

While Xiaomi is still yet to announce an official rollout plan, the company has announced the first Android 10 build for the Mi A3 on Mi.com. Called V11.0.7.0.QFQMIXM, Xiaomi stresses that the update is being rolled out in phases and to a random selection of handsets, for the time being. According to XDA Developers, the build contains the following changes, besides the upgrade to Android 10:

Other

  • Optimization: Increased system stability
  • Optimization: Reduced system lag

The update will arrive as an OTA, although there is no timescale for a broader rollout at the time writing. Alternatively, you can manually flash the build via recovery. Please note that this will factory reset your device. Seemingly leaked on Telegram, V11.0.7.0.QFQMIXM can be downloaded now from Xiaomi's servers. Please keep in mind that the build is a 1.3 GB download.
