It has been nearly two months since Xiaomi teased MIUI 12, the first version of MIUI to be based on Android 11, but the company's custom OS remains firmly under wraps. However, a Redmi Note 7 has appeared on Geekbench claiming to be running Android R. Codename for Android 11, the MIUI 12 version is unlikely to arrive on older mid-range handsets before the end of the year.
Keep in mind that the Redmi Note 7 is yet to receive Android 10, with Xiaomi releasing the Android 9.0 Pie-based V11.0.5.0.PFGMIXM to global handsets last month. Incidentally, the device has been upgraded to Android 10 on the weekly branch of MIUI 11, but we would not recommend using this build as a daily driver.
While the appearance of a Redmi Note 7 running pre-release MIUI 12 seems unlikely, we doubt that the device in question is running a custom ROM, either. Simply, we cannot find any Android 11-based ROMs at the time of writing. Ultimately, this is probably a faked benchmark listing. As XDA Developers has covered previously, it is simple to tweak your device so that it reports erroneous information to Geekbench. We are willing to be proven wrong on this one though, of course.
