The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is a super-flagship smartphone rumored to launch later in 2021. It is touted to improve on the existing Mi 11 in a number of ways, one of which is a step up to blazing fast 120W charging. A new leak suggests it might have a new, first-party gallium nitride (GaN) power brick with which to do so.

Xiaomi makes and sells Mi Fast Chargers as well as high-end smartphones, so that customers can buy spares for their flagship devices should they want (or need) to. Now, the prolific leaker Digital Chat Station asserts that an upcoming member of this series will be a super-speedy, cutting-edge model with the specs to match the rumored Mi 11 Ultra.

Accordingly, it is to be a power brick that can charge a connected device at up to 120 watts (W), using gallium nitride (GaN) technology, no less. Xiaomi does in fact already have a charger that can support this rate: the MDY-12-ED adapter that shipped with the Mi 10 Ultra and is also rumored to come with the upcoming Black Shark 4 gaming phone series.

Then again, this accessory was not a GaN charger; therefore, its rumored successor has the potential to be more compact, more efficient and to charge cooler. Digital Chat Station also indicated that it is also capable of the Mi 11's 55W max rate. Meanwhile, Xiaomi may also release a "Mi 67W Fast Charger with GaN Tech", which is an upgrade on the OEM's 65W brick with the same specs, soon.
