Reviews for the Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G
With the Poco M3 Pro 5G, Xiaomi presents an exciting offer to budget-conscious buyers. The 6.5-inch smartphone follows in the footsteps of the Poco M3 that was launched at the beginning of 2021 at a bargain price of 150 Euros (~$178) and offered an impressive amount of value. With the Poco M3 Pro 5G, there's supposed to be even more of everything now. We will put it to the test here.

If you like us, are not sure what to expect from a brand like POCO, prepare to be pleasantly surprised, particularly when it comes to the M3 Pro 5G. It delivers solid all-around specifications and performance while feature a clean and efficient Xiaomi-built user interface. Crucially though, all of this comes in at a very affordable price tag.

The Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G is a decent deal for the price, we think – it's not the best budget phone we've seen this year, and nor is it the worst. If you want something that's very affordable with 5G and impressive battery life, it's worth checking out what this phone has to offer.

Overall, I feel like there are just too many sacrifices on the POCO M3 Pro for me to recommend it to anyone. It does have 5G, but besides this, it’s an inferior product when looking at the alternatives like Note 10S. And since the latter supports carrier aggregation in 4G connectivity, 5G isn’t an absolute need even if it’s available in your region. Also, this problem isn’t exclusive to the POCO M3 Pro. The sad truth is almost every mid-range 5G phones are way inferior to their 4G counterpart. For instance, the Realme 8 5G, Narzo 30 5G, and the recently launched Vivo Y72 5G all bring a significant compromise in one aspect or the other.

Overall, the Poco M3 Pro 5G has a stunning design and build with decent app performance and good battery life. However, the device is infused with preinstalled bloatware, slow charging, a downgraded battery, and the display aren’t that bright either plus, the camera performance is average with no ultrawide sensor.

The Xiaomi Poco M3 Pro 5G is, on paper, an exceptionally well-rounded budget smartphone. It offers a big 1080p screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 48Mp camera, a big battery and more for a price that won’t break the bank. It is unfortunate then that its software is something of a let down. While some may be able to live with MIUI, the bloated interface and feature overload need significant work before becoming something worth of recommendation. But if you can put up with the software, this is a device that will likely meet all of your needs and then some, if never quite trumping the competition in any significant way.

Overall, the asking price for the 6GB/128GB configuration is P11,990 pesos but it offers a lower unit at P8,990 for 4GB/64GB. It is a 5G ready smartphone that costs less than a thousand bucks compared to the Redmi Note 10 5G. If you lack the budget you will sacrifice some storage space and ram and get the Poco M3 Pro rather than opting for the Redmi phone. Poco M3 Pro 5G is the best bang for the buck and affordable 5G device Xiaomi has to offer with a 90hz refresh rate on FHD+ resolution and a 7nm chipset. These features are great to have especially in the entry-level category as it kills what other competitors have today. But still, make sure to choose your preference.

While there's no doubt the Poco M3 Pro is overselling itself by featuring the word 'pro' in its name, it's a vastly better device than the standard Poco M3. And, actually, it's a perfectly decent affordable phone with reliable MediaTek innards and long-lasting battery life. Its problems aren't especially considerable - some software blips, a somewhat outlandish design, and a lack of wide-angle camera - but it's more the competition that piles on the pressure. After all, you can buy a Redmi Note 10 Pro with better screen (OLED at 120Hz) and better cameras (it has a wide-angle), and less shouty design principles, all for around the same price. If Poco is more up your street then, well, look to spend a touch more and get the superior Poco F3 instead.

However, take 5G out of the equation. Then, the M3 Pro has to deal with the Redmi Note 10S, which starts at Rs 14,999 and brings an AMOLED display (albeit with a 60 Hz refresh rate), a more gaming-oriented MediaTek G95 processor, more versatile cameras (a 64 MP main sensor, and a usable ultrawide), a base 6 GB/ 64GB variant, a newer version of MIUI (12.5) and a battery that is capable of charging much faster thanks to a 33W charger in the box. And for those thinking of the higher RAM/ storage variant, the very formidable Redmi Note 10 Pro, which packs in a more premium design, a superior display, and far better cameras at Rs 15,999. The Poco M3 Pro 5G is a good option for anyone wanting to dip their toes daintily in 5G waters, but take the alphanumeric component out of its name, and it faces stiff competition. That switchblade design does give it an edge, but it will not always cut it. Puns thoroughly intended.

Xiaomi shocked us when they released the redmi note 10 series. The specs that it offers are remarkable considering its price. And now The POCO M3 Pro 5G, Xiaomi's affordable 5G smartphone. We tested its gaming performance when it comes to competitive games, and graphic demanding games. It is also the most affordable 5G smartphone to date.

Of course, the sub Rs 15K segment is all about making the right compromises, so if you find yourself second-guessing the M3 Pro 5G’s purchase, ask yourself how important is it for you to futureproof your purchase with 5G chops. If you don’t mind opting for a 4G phone, then you should also keep an eye out for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M32, which on paper, features a better display and a mightier camera setup. All things considered, the POCO M3 Pro 5G is an enticing option in the sub Rs 15K segment, but one that’s not void of competition.

The base variant of the Poco M3 Pro 5G is not too bad if you're looking for a phone that will be ready to take on 5G networks when they arrive. However, the 6GB variant isn't the best value for money, especially when you can get a more powerful 5G phone such as the Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G for roughly the same price or less, if you consider ongoing discounts. As I mentioned in my first impressions piece, if you're not too fussed about 5G (and you shouldn't be right now), phones such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S and Redmi Note 10 Pro offer much better value with similar performance but way better features.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G undercuts the Poco X3 and Redmi Note 10 Pro to emerge as a capable smartphone for gaming enthusiasts on a tight budget. The upgrades you get on the Poco M3 are also targeted to the same set of users. The smartphone brings a 90Hz display to under Rs 15,000 and runs a decent Dimensity 700 processor. The design and 5G support give it an edge over competitors. However, the upgrades stop right there. The RAM configuration, software experience and camera setup are exactly the same as the Poco M3 while the battery has actually been reduced. All of this make the Poco M3 Pro 5G a good option in this category but not exactly the kind of disruptor you would hope for.

The POCO M3 Pro 5G is currently the most affordable 5G phone you can buy in the Philippines, and despite its affordable price tag, it’s a pretty well-rounded phone in its own right. POCO didn’t compromise on the core features of the phone, which results in a device that’s really hard to beat. Our POCO M3 Pro 5G Review Philippines shows that it’s the phone you need to buy if you want to jump on the 5G bandwagon without breaking the bank.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G doesn't seem to be a segment disruptor like the Poco X3 Pro (Review), which in my mind, is a little disappointing considering all the hype around it. In fact, if you leave 5G out of the equation for a moment, phones such as Xiaomi's Redmi Note 10S and Redmi Note 10 Pro seem like much better value offerings for about the same price as the top-end Poco M3 Pro. I'll reserve my final verdict till I've finished testing the phone so stay tuned to Gadgets 360 for the full review coming soon.

The most upgrade from its predecessor is its 5G capable MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, 90Hz refresh rate display, and a higher configuration option, so it didn’t really go too far. Nonetheless, on its own, the POCO M3 Pro 5G sure is one of the most “sulit” 5G smartphones that you can get with mid-range qualifications. So it’s a perfect choice if you’re on a strict budget but still want a phone that’s reliable enough for your day-to-day casual use.

Now, I want to address why I found POCO’s motto of “everything you need, nothing you don’t” so ironic here with the POCO M3 Pro 5G. 5G is definitely not something we need here in Malaysia just yet. In fact, I believe POCO could have come up with a better POCO M3 Pro, if they didn’t try to cram 5G into it while shaving off features to meet the intended price point. For RM799, the POCO M3 Pro 5G enjoys the distinction of being the most affordable 5G smartphone in the market, but when its peers are offering sweet features like AMOLED screens, faster charging, dual speakers, richer camera experiences and even IP-rated designs at the same price point by excluding 5G, it really raises the question of whether sacrificing all that just to offer 5G is a good idea here. Heck, you can even get the POCO X3 Pro for just RM100 more, netting you a much faster Snapdragon 860, a faster 120Hz screen and faster 33W charging.

After a detailed review of the Poco M3 pro 5G, we believe that it is a good entry-level 5G smartphone and will prove to be a strong competitor in this price category. So anyone who wants to purchase a 5G smartphone but low on budget, then it will be one of the best choices for him/her in the market.

Xiaomi knows how to make a good phone, and the Poco M3 Pro 5G follows the same successful recipe - it packs the best features money can buy you at €179, with 5G being one of the highlights. We did like the 90Hz LCD screen - it was always smooth, bright enough and with great contrast. All four cameras do nice photos, you can play games mostly satisfactory, and the battery life is amazing. The Poco M3 Pro 5G is not the fastest chap, that is for sure - the GPU is unimpressive, the charging is not that fast, there are no popular features like dual speakers or 4K video capturing. But right now, 5G is expensive, so we can only imagine where a large chunk of the budget went. The Poco M3 Pro 5G is not a phone for everyone, obviously. If you want to join the first people getting access to 5G and all that instantaneous web load times, it's probably the cheapest way in. If 5G doesn't matter that much, just look elsewhere.

The POCO M3 Pro nails the basics: it has powerful hardware that delivers lag-free performance, amazing battery life with 18W fast charging, 5G connectivity, and a design that stands out from other budget devices. If you're in the market for a budget phone with 5G for under $250, you cannot go wrong with the POCO M3 Pro 5G.
