Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro could launch sooner than expected with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset

Digital Chat Station has chimed in once again about the state of Xiaomi's next flagship tablets. This time, the well-known leaker has discussed the prospect of an unreleased model with a recent Snapdragon 8 series chipset. Also, they mention the inclusion of 100 W wired charging, although a recent 3C certification suggests that 120 W wired charging could be headed to a Pad 6 Pro follow-up instead.

Specifically, the 24018RPACC and 24018RPACG have recently been spotted online, details of which we have covered separately. According to Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is planning on integrating the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 within its next high-end tablet, with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and OLED alternatives hot on its heels. While the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is currently Qualcomm's fastest mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 delivers noticeable performance and efficiency improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 that powers the Pad 6 Pro and Pad 6 Max.

Previously, the Pad 7 Pro was expected to arrive in April, despite the January 2024 release window that the tablet's '24018RPAC' model number implies. However, Digital Chat Station asserts that Xiaomi may be working towards updating the Pad series as early as next month. If earlier rumours are accurate, Xiaomi is developing four new tablets, with the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro likely arriving before other models like the Pad 7 Max.
