Xiaomi Midian Zero-blu-ray Bedside Sleep Aid Lamp is a sight for sore eyes as it banishes blue-light badness

Xiaomi has put its Midian Zero-blu-ray Bedside Sleep Aid Lamp on a Chinese crowdfunding site called Youpin, and it is doing very well so far with attracting backers. With 12 days of the campaign left, the Midian Zero lamp has garnered over 660,000 yuan (US$93,721) in funds, which puts it 66% towards its final goal. Early backers of the blue-light free lamp will be able to snag one for 199 yuan (US$28) before it goes up to its retail price of 329 yuan (US$47).

Xiaomi has claimed that the Midian Zero-blu-ray Bedside Sleep Aid Lamp is the world’s first zero blue light bedside lamp, which it may or may not be. A special LED light is used to ensure that no harmful blue light is produced; exposure to blue light can lead to vision impairment. Low color temperature light is provided by a red LED while the pleasant-looking warm color temperature light is produced by a yellow LED.

Unsurprisingly, the Midian Zero-blu-ray Bedside Sleep Aid Lamp does a bit more than just offer blue-light-free illumination. Xiaomi has made it a smart product, meaning it can interact with the MIJIA app to enable handy features such as a wake-up function and music playback. The futuristic-looking pod will even let a user issue simple commands to the XiaoAI assistant. Many devices such as smartphones and tablets come with blue-light filters to protect their users’ eyes, and now it seems tech lovers can also enjoy this health benefit in a snazzy bedside lamp.
