Xiaomi could be working on a possible new flagship as was indicated by a recent Chinese 3C certification. The Xiaomi device, which has a model number M2007J1SC, was later discovered to be codenamed Cas and will be a 5G device with 120 W fast charging support. Xiaomi Cas is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 865/865 Plus and will also sport a 48 MP triple-camera setup that can take "supermoon" shots similar to the Huawei P30 Pro.

Oppo recently announced its 125 W fast charging option, which is touted to be able to fully recharge a 4,000 mAh battery in just about 20 minutes. Realme, too, announced that it will be bringing 125 W UltraDart charging to upcoming devices. Looks like we may see even more smartphone vendors opt for this superfast charging technology with the latest one being Xiaomi.

Though not yet officially announced, information that Xiaomi is indeed working on a new flagship has come to light thanks to a leaked 3C certification. The Chinese 3C Certification indicates a new Xiaomi device bearing model number M2007J1SC. It also indicates that the phone will ship with a 120 W (6A 20W) charger in the box. Previously, we spotted this same phone on an MIIT listing as well.

According to a report by XDA Developers, this 5G Xiaomi device is codenamed "Cas" and is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or even the newer Snapdragon 865 Plus. Initial code snippets within MIUI 12 seemed to indicate that this device was originally supposed to feature a 108 MP sensor, but apparently the code has now been modified to show a 48 MP primary sensor.

Xiaomi Cas's camera is also rumored to come with optical zoom and a "supermoon" feature similar to the Huawei P30 Pro's "moon mode". This could mean that Xiaomi could have actually chosen to go for a reduced megapixel count to allow for a larger sensor size in order to enable proper low-light and moon shots. A wide angle camera that can take macro shots is also expected, so we are likely looking at a triple-camera setup here.

A 3C listing means that the device is not too far off from launch. However, it is not yet clear whether Xiaomi Cas would be restricted to China or will have a global release as well. Even if the phone originally launches in China, a global variant under one of the many Xiaomi product lines may still be possible.
