Qualcomm has now officially announced the launch of its new flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 865 Plus. The Snapdragon 865 Plus, like the Snapdragon 855 Plus before it, is a refresh of the regular Snapdragon 865 with slightly improved technology to offer better gaming-focused performance.
According to Qualcomm's official press release, the Snapdragon 865 Plus comes equipped with the 5G-capable X55 modem, and promises support for 144 fps gaming and True 10-bit HDR. One notable feature on the Snapdragon 865 Plus is the addition of Qualcomm® FastConnect™ 6900 compatibility which offers max Wi-Fi speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps, versus the Qualcomm® FastConnect™ 6800 on the Snapdragon 865 that tops out at 1.774 Gbps.
The Snapdragon 865 Plus features a Qualcomm® Kryo™ 585 CPU Prime core clocked at up to 3.1 GHz—a 10% increase on the 2.84 GHz clock speed as seen on the Snapdragon 865. On the graphical side of things is the Qualcomm® Adreno™ 650 GPU but with a touted 10% faster graphics rendering.
The Snapdragon 865 Plus is expected to debut on the Asus ROG Phone 3—slated for a July 22 launch, and will also be seen on the upcoming Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone.
