Both models can be configured with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, Ryzen AI 9 365 or Ryzen AI 7 350 combined with an RTX 5070 or RTX 5060 dGPU. Highlights include fast 300 Hz 1600p displays with high colour gamut coverage, support for up to 128 GB of plug-in RAM, up to 16 TB of SSD storage and a 99.8 Wh battery, plus a USB4 connector and full-size SD Express card reader.

The Core lineup of compact gaming laptops from XMG is getting a refresh focused around three AMD Ryzen AI processor options and two Nvidia RTX 5000 mobile GPU options. Prices start at €1,549, which makes these new models more appealing to budget-oriented gamers.

Detailed specs

XMG is positioning this year’s Core (M25) models in the premium compact class, as the aluminium chassis on the 15-inch laptop is relatively slim for a gaming laptop with a 21.9 mm profile and a total system weight of 1.95 kg. The 16-inch model is just a bit thicker with a 23 mm profile and it weighs 2.1 kg. Total weight includes the 99.8 Wh battery for both models, which could last for about 8 hours while streaming YouTube contrast at 150 nits brightness.

At the top of the processor option list sits the 12-core Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU, but users can also opt for the more affordable 10-core Ryzen AI 9 365 or the 8-core Ryzen AI 7 350. All processor options can be combined with either a GeForce RTX 5070 or RTX 5060, both configured for up to 115 watts graphics power including 15 watts Dynamic Boost.

Maximum RAM capacity is set to 128 GB DDR5-5600 via two SO-DIMM slots. Storage is facilitated through two PCIe 4.0 X4 M.2 slots that allow for a maximum capacity of 16 TB.

The redesigned composite cooling system on the new Core 16 models allow the CPU side to run at up to 100 W sustained, while the GPU may run at 115 W sustained, and the CPU + GPU combo can run at a maximum of 160 W sustained. Specs are slightly lower on the Core 15 model, with 90 W sustained for CPU and 150 W for the CPU + GPU combo.

Both the 15.3-inch and 16-inch IPS displays offer a native 2,560 × 1,600 resolution along with a fast 300 Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness. As far as color gamuts are concerned, the Core 15 covers 100 % of the sRGB colour space, while the Core 16 offers full coverage of both sRGB and DCI-P3, making it HDR-compatible.

As any respectable gaming laptop, the new Core models come with a per-key RGB keyboard and glass-like mylar touchpad. There is also an FHD webcam with privacy shutter.

Connectivity is quite robust, especially on the Core 15 model that comes with two HDMI 2.1 video outs. The Core 16 only features one HDMI port and both come with DP80-compatible Mini DisplayPort 2.1, a Thunderbolt-compatible USB4 port with DP40-capable DisplayPort 2.1 and 140 watts of Power Delivery (20 V, 7 A), as well as USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 1.4 and 100 watts of Power Delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1, Gigabit LAN, a 2-in-1 audio jack for headset and microphone, and a fast full-size SD Express card reader. For wireless internet access, XMG offers a choice between Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 6 cards.
