Wiko launches Panther Lake-powered MacBook Air rival with 120Hz OLED display

Wiko has launched a new Intel Panther Lake laptop, the Hi MateBook 14 Core Edition 2026. It features a 14.2-inch display, and while the processor inside isn't as powerful as the Apple M5 in benchmarks, the form factor makes it rival the 13.6-inch MacBook Air.

Specifically, it's powered by the Intel Core Ultra 5 325, one of the entry-level options within the Panther Lake lineup. This processor doesn't come with a powerful iGPU either, but the 4-core Xe3 integrated GPU should be more than enough for light workloads, media handling, and moderate productivity tasks.

The company has paired the processor with 24GB of RAM, and the only configuration available for the laptop equips a 1TB SSD. Wiko didn't share anything specific about the memory, but notes that it's dual-channel RAM.

Its OLED touchscreen is a notable highlight, with Wiko highlighting a 2880x1920 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The brightness rating is at 450 nits, which is slightly lower than the rating on the 13-inch MacBook Air, but it should be good enough for comfortable viewing under different lighting conditions.

As for the design, Wiko claims that the Hi MateBook 14 Core Edition 2026 weighs 1.33kg (around 2.93lbs) and is 14.5mm thick, making the laptop slightly thicker and heavier than the 13-inch MacBook Air M5 (16/512GB curr. $1,199 on Amazon). The rounded corners make it look elegant, but the port configuration isn't anything fancy.

To be precise, the selection consists of one full-function USB-C, one 3.5mm audio, one HDMI, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. That is, there's no high-speed Thunderbolt 4 port available, which is a bummer.

On the bright side, the laptop packs a 70Wh battery, and Wiko claims that it allows up to 17 hours of local 1080p playback. Price-wise, the Panther Lake Hi MateBook 14 costs CNY 8,199, about $1,221, and while the company has some presence in the global market, it's not known for officially releasing laptops outside China.
