Verdansk, one of the most iconic maps from Call of Duty: Warzone, was making a comeback. And this highly-anticipated map is dropping on April 3rd, as a part of Season 3, which is just a few days away. Ahead of the launch, Call of Duty players are getting a sneak peek into the renewed iteration of the Verdansk map. The game devs took to social media to give us an early glimpse of the same.
Verdansk was first introduced in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has been rebuilt from the ground up with significant technical and visual improvements for the upcoming season. The newer version has been developed collaboratively by Beenox, Raven Software, and High Moon Studios. It has enhanced textures, improved rendering, and upgraded lighting, which includes a high-resolution skybox and refined shadows. Environmental details like foliage, water, and terrain physics have also been overhauled for greater realism.
Even with the changes, the layout remains faithful to the original - only some subtle gameplay tweaks have been made, such as added cover in open areas (like between Farmland and Downtown) to improve player movement. This is good news as the map retains its nostalgic landmarks like Stadium, Storage, and more, while delivering a sharper experience.
Verdansk’s comeback marks five years since Warzone’s debut, which makes it all the more exciting for players. The update will also include Warzone’s current movement mechanics for smoother gameplay.
