Upcoming Epic Games Store July 2026 free game lineup includes a cult classic

There are currently two free games available to grab on Epic Games Store: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition and Voidwrought, and for next week, the storefront has prepared a pretty interesting lineup. It includes one cult classic and an acclaimed game.

Specifically, River City Girls 2 and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream will be available as freebies from July 2 to July 9, 2026. These two are worth $39.99 and $9.99, respectively, and both of them are well-rated on Steam.

Among the two, River City Girls 2 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up that expands on the original (available on Humble). It sports an interconnected world, has six playable characters, and features an RPG-style progression. The fast-paced combat, paired with strong soundtracks, makes it fun to play.

However, the combat can feel repetitive at one point, and the interconnected map forces some backtracking. This upcoming Epic Games Store free game was released in 2022 and has over 1,500 reviews on Steam, of which 85% are positive.

As for the second free game, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is a cult classic. It was originally released on Mac and MS-DOS in 1995, and it was later re-released on Steam in 2013. This is a point-and-click psychological horror that's based on Harlan Ellison's short story.

It puts players against puzzles while they are exploring each of the six characters' darkest fears, trauma, and guilt. The unsettling atmosphere and branching outcomes with multiple endings make it worth playing for those who are into horror adventure games. However, its controls and interface didn't age well, and some puzzle logic can be frustrating.
