Following the FineTrack Slim S, a tracker for Samsung SmartThings that looks like a credit card, Ugreen is now introducing the FineTrack Slim Smart G, which is a new version for Google's Find Hub and therefore compatible with all Android smartphones.
However, there are two significant differences between the FineTrack Slim S and the FineTrack Slim Smart G. First, the new model has a remarkable battery life of five years, instead of the twelve months of the older version. Second, the battery cannot be charged or replaced. Once the integrated battery is empty, the tracker must be disposed of and replaced with a new FineTrack Slim Smart G.
This inevitably turns the product into e-waste after about five years. That’s a shame, especially since the similarly thin TrackCard can be charged wirelessly, even though it only has 100 days of battery life. The IP68 certification indicates that the Ugreen tracker is waterproof, so it can still be located even when it's dropped into water.
Price and availability
The Ugreen FineTrack Slim Smart G tracking card is already available on Amazon for $25.99. Thanks to a 10% coupon on the product page, that price drops to $23.39.
