In addition to offering a range of NAS devices, Ugreen has introduced a unique UPS solution designed to provide backup power during unexpected mains failures – a scenario that can occur even in industrialised nations. The Ugreen US3000 is compatible only with some of the company’s NAS models. For instance, it doesn’t support the DXP6800 and DXP8800 series. Boasting the ability to instantly switch to battery power during blackouts, the US3000 sits between a wall socket and a NAS device’s power input. It also features a USB connection for data transfer, allowing users to communicate with the UPS remotely via an app.
Measuring a compact 120.5 x 80.5 x 29 mm (4.74 x 3.17 x 1.14 in), the product only has enough space to accommodate a 43.2 Wh battery. However, given that NAS devices typically draw less than 10 watts in standby mode, this battery can probably maintain operations for several hours. For lengthier outages, it’s advisable to properly shut down a NAS system to minimise the risk of data loss, especially during file transfers. Of course, users must also ensure that battery power is available to their router and computers so that their NAS system remains accessible. According to official specs, the Ugreen US3000 offers a maximum output of 120 watts and includes various built-in safeguard mechanisms. The system is available directly from the company or through Amazon for around $100.
