Xiaomi is apparently working to launch an Apple AirTag competitor, and it may stand as a direct alternative to the tracking devices that are within the Google Find My Device Network. Not much is known about the tag, but leaker Repeater 002 on Weibo says that it will be called Xiaomi Tag.
The leaker also adds that the tracker, which was previously spotted in different regulatory databases, will launch alongside the Xiaomi Watch 5 or S5 and Buds 6. This new range of accessories could be introduced during the Xiaomi 17 Ultra launch event, which is set to take place in China on December 26, 2025.
Although the leaker didn't share any specific details about the Xiaomi Tag, it's expected to have UWB support. This feature makes it easier to locate the trackers when they are within close proximity. If it launches while being within the Google Find My Device Network, it will offer an offline tracking feature, something that the AirTag is known for.
Of course, these are nothing new from trackers that are not an Apple AirTag. Options like Chipolo Loop, Pebblebee (Clip 5 curr. $26.24 on Amazon), and Moto Tag already offer these features. Of course, Xiaomi devices tend to be budget-friendly, and a competitively lowered price could make the Xiaomi Tag get the upper hand over the competitors.
