The Motorola Moto Tag (from $29 on Amazon) was announced almost exactly a year ago, and Motorola officially advertised the tracker with an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip back then. Until now, UWB tracking was only available on a few smartphones and exclusively in the proprietary Moto Tag app. With the latest firmware update 2.0.69, Motorola now allows users to precisely locate their tracker via ultra-wideband within Google's new Find Hub app.
When the tracker is located in Google's Find Hub, the app will now show the exact distance and direction of the tracker after the firmware update, instead of just a rough estimate. This makes it significantly easier to find a Moto Tag in close proximity. Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTags with UWB, Motorola does not offer the option to use the camera for a more accurate visualization of the tracker's location. An Android smartphone with an ultra-wideband chip is required in order to locate a Moto Tag via UWB. The following smartphones are currently supported:
