A new report claims that while the Pixel 10 series does support Qi2 wireless charging, it does not have internal magnets. So those who purchase the Pixel 10 phones and want to use Qi2 features will need to buy a case as well.

Google is working on the Pixel 10 series that will likely be announced in October. While externally, there isn’t a major difference between the current generation and the Pixel 10 series as per leaks, major internal changes are expected, including support for Qi2 wireless charging. However, a new leak claims that the Pixel 10 series will require a case to enable magnetic accessory ecosystem.

According to a report by Android Headlines, Google will launch a case for the Pixel 10 series phones that has Qi2 magnets. This suggests that the magnets will not be located inside the phones. The same was seen with the Galaxy S25 series. The OnePlus 13, on the other hand, does not natively support Qi2 charging, but does support faster wireless charging speeds and has first-party cases that include built-in magnets that work with Qi2 and MagSafe accessories. Notably, Apple has had internal magnets since the iPhone 12 series from 2020.

It was recently reported that the Pixel 10 series will support Qi2.2 wireless charging and Google is working on a magnetic ecosystem of accessories. This ecosystem is reportedly called the ‘Pixelsnap’ system and it includes a number of accessories such as a Pixelsnap Charger, Pixelsnap Charger with Stand, and a Pixelsnap Ring Stand.

The report also stated that the Pixel 10 series uses the ConvenientPower CPS4041 chip, which supports Qi2.2 including Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) and wireless charging with up to 60 watts, "up to" being the key phrase here. At the time, it was unclear whether the Pixel 10 series will come with internal magnets but now, it seems like an accessory will be required for the phone to work with other Qi2 accessories.
