Trust has announced that its latest Taxon webcam has a QHD (2560x1440) sensor. It also features auto-focus for its high-res lens, as well as dual mics and a USB plug-and-play nature. It has been released to Amazon in the UK for £69.99 (~US$97), or £48.99 (~$68) for a limited time.

PC OEMs only just seem to be waking up to the demand for improved integrated webcams in their new products. The well-known brand Trust is still a step ahead of them, however, with the new external Taxon accessory. It is rated for a 2560x1440 (QHD) resolution at 30 frames per second (fps).

Then again, the new webcam can also step down to HD or FHD if necessary. Trust has also equipped it with a "wide-angle" lens made of glass, as well as auto-focus should the user want to move around during presentations or meetings.

On that note, Trust claims the Taxon is compatible with apps such as Microsoft Teams, Skype and Zoom. The webcam also integrates a stand type that allows it to either clip onto the top of your monitor or laptop, or simply stand on a desk.

It also has a quarter-inch thread for tripods, although one of those will not come in the box. Trust's Taxon also features a physical privacy shutter and an LED status indicator, so the user can control and manage what is seen through it.

Given all these features, it is a bit of a shame it is only available on Amazon's UK store at present, where it at least has a 30% discount at the moment. Then again, there are other similar 2K webcams on this site for other regions.
