Honor Magicbook 15 with pop-up webcam launched in India for INR 42,999 (US$574)
It was only a matter of time before other Chinese OEMs made a beeline for the Indian laptop market after Xiaomi made its grand entry a few weeks ago. The latest entrant in the hypercompetitive market is none other than Honor, who has just unveiled the Honor Magicbook 15 in the country. Unfortunately, it does not come with AMD Ryzen 4000 series Renoir CPUs. It appears that those models are only available in the Chinese market for now.
Unlike products released by companies such as Asus and Dell, the Honor Magicbook 15 comes with one fixed set of hardware. One has to settle for last year's AMD Ryzen 5 3500U processor and a Radeon Vega 8 GPU. The notebook comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 256GB NVMe SSD. While the laptop does offer decent specs for an affordable price, the inability to add more RAM/Storage might not sit well with a lot of users. You can read more about it in our in-depth review.
The Honor Magicbook 15 comes with a 15.6-inch IPS panel with FHD resolution. One of the more exciting aspects of the laptop is its pop-up webcam, which is nestled deep within the keyboard's recesses. Wireless connectivity options include 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. The notebook suffers from a serious lack of input options, as it comes with 1XUSB 2.0, 1XUSB 3.0, 1xUSB Type-C, and 1xHDMI port. Thankfully, the Type-C port can be used to charge the laptop at up to 65W. Lastly, its power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.
With its INR 42,999 (US$574) price, the Honor Magicbook 15 has the potential to take on Xiaomi's Mi Notebook line of laptops. It will be up for grabs on August 6 on Flipkart. Honor is even throwing in an early bird discount of INR 3,000 (US$40), bringing the Magicbook's price down to INR 39,999 (US$534).
