The Transition Relay is a new 2-in-1 mountain bike and e-bike. The company designed the pedelec with a modular approach, ensuring that you have a great riding experience both with and without the detachable battery; Transition claims that it is “a mountain biker’s e-bike”. The frame is compatible with dual 29-in or mixed wheels and allows 160 and 170 mm travel.
The Fazua Ride60 system powers the bike, combining a mid-power 60 Nm motor with a 430 Wh battery. The device is stored inside the frame to minimize drag, and an lighting system on the bike’s frame indicates the battery life. According to Transition, the e-bike is lightweight, allowing the pedelec to be more efficient than other e-bikes. The Relay will be available with carbon and aluminum frames in a range of six sizes. The company said it would release the full product details closer to the e-MTB’s launch in spring 2023.
The brand launched its first e-bike, the Repeater, earlier this year. The pedelec has 29-in wheels with 160 mm travel and a Shimano DU-EP800 motor to assist you at speeds up to 20 mph (~25 kph). The bike has several modes, including Trail and Eco, which you can use to prolong the range provided by the Shimano BT-E8036 630 Wh battery.
