You may not have heard of this PC accessory manufacturer but its newest m-ATX case looks quite unique and interesting. darkFlash was founded in 2016 by a group of DIY PC builders and gamers and their portfolio includes cases, power supplies, cooling gear, keyboard and mice, and more. The latest PC case, the Floatron F1, lifts the entire chassis up allowing for plenty of ventilation for the GPU, as well as giving it a floating appearance, hence the name.
darkFlash Floatron F1 specifications and features
The m-ATX case has, what the company, calls, a floating extended base and it claims GPU temperature improvements by five to seven degrees. Besides the front and the side which has seamless glass panels, all other sides of the case are full of ventilation holes. This includes the bottom where there is 64 mm of clearance between the base and the chassis. Both the side glass panel and back panel have a clamshell design for easy access.
The Floatron F1 has a max GPU clearance of 350 mm and a max CPU cooler clearance of 185 mm. It can have up to nine 120 mm fans or up to five 140 mm. However, it seems like a radiator can be mounted only at the top with up to 360 mm length. darkFlash suggests mounting three intake fans at the bottom with three exhausts at the top as well as one exhaust at the back. The two fans on the side can also act as intake supporting the bottom three. The base can house up to two 3.5’ HDDs and the back of the motherboard plate can hold two SSDs. The side of the base that faces the user has two USB 3.0 ports as well as a Type-C port.
Price and availability
darkFlash has not shared pricing and availability details for the Floatron F1 yet. It will come in both black and white color options, though the white is a combo colorway. There is also a Black-Connect Edition but it is unclear how that’s different from the standard black color.
