While information about the 'Beyond the Strand' celebration remains relatively limited, the company states that the event will "include special guest appearances as well as offer a glimpse into future projects."

Kojima Productions is preparing for its 10th anniversary with a special event, “Beyond the Strand”, slated for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills TOHO Cinema, just two days before the start of Tokyo Game Show 2025.

The event will take place between 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM JST, where Hideo Kojima is set to take the stage along with some special guest appearances and further insight into the studio’s future projects. Tickets for the event are going on sale soon via a lottery. Fans who live outside Japan can tune in for the event via live stream.

Kojima is celebrating his studio, Kojima Productions' 10th anniversary, which was founded in December 2015 after Kojima left Konami, and partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment and began development on Death Stranding, which was released in 2019, followed by its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, released on June 26, 2025.

As part of the anniversary, Kojima is going to tease his upcoming projects, which could include updates on his ambitious horror project being developed in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios, known as OD.

While development for OD is active, Physint, a stealth action espionage game reported to be a spiritual successor to the Metal Gear series, is reported to be in a conceptual stage, with Kojima stating that he’s working all alone on the game. According to Kojima, the game could take five or six years to complete, with many speculating a PS6 exclusive release.

Earlier this year, Kojima expressed that he had reevaluated his priorities after turning 60 and becoming severely ill during the pandemic. He had even left a will containing game ideas for his staff members to use after his demise.

Reflecting on his age, Kojima said, “Turning 60 was less of a turning point in my life than my experiences during the pandemic. I fell seriously ill at that time, and also had an eye operation. Until then, I didn’t think I was old, you know? I just didn’t feel my age, and I assumed I would be able to create for as long as I live.”

Kojima detailed his experiences during the pandemic and further mentioned, “But then I became sick, and I couldn’t create anything. And I saw lots of people around me passing away at the time. I was confronted with death. Of course, I recovered, but now I was thinking, ‘Wait, how many years do I have left to make a game or film?’ Perhaps I have ten years?”

Kojima Productions will also attend the Tokyo Game Show 2025 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, where the studio previously confirmed that it will showcase a Death Stranding 5th Anniversary Exhibition and a pop-up.
