According to observations posted by a Redditor, the OnePlus and McLaren brand partnership is no more. Therefore, it seems we are not getting a flagship variant with a distinctive black-and-papaya finish this year. However, the OEM has yet to publicly announce this news itself.

The 7T Pro may be the last OnePlus flagship to have a McLaren Edition. This is an indication made by the discovery that the OEM has been removed from the automotive team's Formula 1 brand partners list (which also contains names such as Vive, Klipsch and Dell). It has been made by the Reddit user rudefyet, and backed up by findings that this has been the case since the end of March 2020 at the earliest.

It is not clear at present why OnePlus and McLaren have ostensibly parted ways. Perhaps the eye-catching variant of the late 2019 premium device did not do very well; it is certainly true that there was relatively little to distinguish it from its "plain" counterpart in terms of specs. On the other hand, it was ported to the US market as the only version of this phone with 5G.

Some fans of both companies may be a little sad to see the partnership end. Then again, it has already left a legacy involving a few interesting results of the design-focused collaboration, not the least of which was the orange-leather version of the Concept One.

However, there is a potential alternative to this conclusion: OnePlus has recently overhauled its branding, which involves a significant change to the signature number 1 in its logo. Therefore, it is just possible that McLaren has temporarily pulled the old one from its website in preparation to post the new.

The OEM is yet to openly confirm or deny either possibility, although it does admittedly have a lot on its press plate right now.
