The new McLaren Racing Formula 1 car will have Chrome-accented wheels thanks to a new partnership with Google
McLaren is no stranger to collaborations with mobile device tech companies; now, it has gotten more direct about this in 2022 thanks to a new agreement with Google. The new "major multi-year partnership" between the Mountain View giant and the motorsport team will bring a slightly re-done look to the new MCL36 vehicle designed for this year's Formula 1 championship.
This consists of wheel-covers adorned with the same colors found in the Chrome logo, while that of Android (green robot head and all) will peep from the top of the MCL36's engine cover. Therefore, the new branding might find itself pitted against that of Qualcomm on the starting grid.
That OEM has partnered with Ferrari to put Snapdragon branding on its own new F1 car. McLaren has also announced that the new partnership will mean Chrome will be the browser in use on and off the track during its 2022 campaign, and that Google has also provided it with 5G-capable mobile devices for the same purposes.
