The Nokia McLaren may have never launched, but someone is selling a prototype on eBay for US$899. The working prototype is fully functional and is an example of Nokia's revolutionary 3D touch hover system, which no smartphone has ever replicated.

Microsoft cancelled the Lumia 1030 years ago, supposedly the successor to the Lumia 1020. The device has leaked several times though, showcasing its huge camera housing and its angular design. One of Lumia 1030's standout features was its 3D touch hover system, which Windows Central discussed at length in 2016.

Now, someone is selling a prototype model on eBay for US$899, which also goes by the codename Nokia McLaren. According to the listing, the Lumia 1030 is fully functional and even has a working SIM card slot. Reputedly, the device features many unreleased engineering apps and a version of Nokia Camera that never made it to market. All in all, the device still seems unique all these years on.

It is unclear how the eBayer came to acquire the prototype, nor if Microsoft will allow them to sell it. Nonetheless, it is a piece of smartphone history, and one that is relatively cheap considering its rarity. The seller claims that it will ship globally for reference.
