The Hubble Space Telescope unveils a new image of the Trifid Nebula for its 36th anniversary

On April 24, 2026, the Hubble Space Telescope celebrated its 36th anniversary, and for this, NASA has revealed a new image of the Trifid Nebula. Located about 5,200 light-years from Earth, this nebula is one of the most famous structures in space.
Indeed, astronomers have observed star formation in this region of the universe for several years. But the Hubble Space Telescope has captured a new image showing large clouds of gas and two spikes on the left. And according to astronomers, a star is located at the tip of the first spike, which points upwards. Around this star, we can also see a circumstellar disk, which could be composed of gas, dust, and asteroids.

As for the spike on the left, it is completely different, because it is a jet caused by a protostar. Named HH 399, this jet covers a distance of several light-years. In addition, a denser gas cloud is located on the left. However, this structure remains mysterious.
Finally, regarding the structures on the right side of this image, we can see a black cloud of dust that blocks the light. In other words, this is not the universe, but a very dense region where stars can form. As a result, although this image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope shows only a small part of this nebula, it provides a better understanding of this structure.
