Tarran L1S: Longtail E-Bike with auto-Shift, mmWave radar & electric stand

Tarran has unveiled its L1 series following an initial teaser. The top tier L1S features the Enviolo Automatiq Pro. This continuously variable shifting system—though still limited in gear range—can also operate automatically. In that case, the gear ratio is typically adjusted to a preferred cadence. A mid-motor with a maximum torque and a peak output of 750 watts is installed. The rated continuous output is limited to 250 watts, likely primarily for legal reasons within the EU. Power is transmitted via a carbon belt. The 693 Wh battery is removable, which should be useful in the event of a defect.
At the front and rear, 20-inch tires—and therefore relatively small wheels—are fitted. Additional passengers can be carried on the extended rear rack, and a front rack can also be used, allowing passengers and luggage to be carried at the same time. For two-wheeled cargo bikes, parking is not always straightforward. The L1S offers an electric two-legged bike stand that can be conveniently controlled from the handlebars.
The saddle height can also be adjusted at the touch of a button. There is an mmWave radar system that can detect vehicles approaching from behind, and rear traffic can even be monitored on the 5-inch screen using a camera. The e-bike is not yet available, but a refundable $50 deposit secures a $200 discount during the April crowdfunding campaign.
