A classic World War II multiplayer shooter is currently available on Steam at a 95% discount, dropping the price from $50 to just $2.50.

Battlefield V takes players to World War II, exploring the conflict through personal stories in its War Stories mode. Told across several episodes, these include the experiences of a Norwegian resistance fighter and a German tank commander. Rather than following a single narrative, the game presents standalone scenarios that offer different perspectives on the war.

The core of the game, however, lies in its large-scale multiplayer battles with up to 64 players. You can choose from four distinct classes – Assault, Medic, Support and Recon – each playing a crucial role in team-based combat. Assault soldiers engage in direct firefights and take down enemy vehicles, while medics revive teammates and provide healing. Support soldiers supply ammunition and construct fortifications, whereas recon specialists mark enemies and eliminate them from afar. Tactical coordination and teamwork are essential to victory.

Objectives vary depending on the game mode. In classic Conquest, teams fight to capture and hold strategic points. Breakthrough offers a more intense experience, with one team pushing through enemy defenses while the other tries to hold the line. Grand Operations blends multiple modes into a multi-stage campaign spanning different maps and in-game days. For faster-paced action, Team Deathmatch focuses on pure combat. Battlefield V also includes a battle royale mode, where 64 players compete to be the last one standing.

Varied ratings

Battlefield V has struggled with player ratings. While it has over 200,000 reviews on Steam, only 70% are positive. On Metacritic, it holds a respectable 81 Metascore, but the user score sits at a dismal 3.4. The biggest complaint at launch was the lack of content, though developer DICE later expanded the game with new maps, weapons and factions. The Pacific campaign, featuring the USA and Japan, is widely regarded as the best update. Other criticisms include poor balancing, historical inaccuracies and a lack of communication between DICE and the community.

95 percent discount on Steam

Despite its mixed reviews, Battlefield V could still be worth a look for shooter fans – especially now that it's available on Steam at a massive discount. With 95% off, the Definitive Edition, which includes all expansions, Elite skins and extra weapon and vehicle skins, is currently just $2.50 instead of $50. The deal runs until February 10.

EA is also offering Battlefield V at a 95% discount. Buying directly from the publisher means you can launch the game through the EA Launcher without going through Steam. Additionally, EA offers the Standard Edition for just $2 instead of $40, alongside the discounted Definitive Edition.

The generous discount is likely tied to the launch of Battlefield Labs, EA’s new community testing program that grants players early access to upcoming Battlefield content. In the presentation video on YouTube, starting at 4:43, you can even catch the first gameplay footage of Battlefield 6.

Prices are subject to change. The offer was available at the time of publication of the article, but may be limited in time or quantity. All information without guarantee.
