Lamentations is a promising new title that mixes the horror of The Backrooms with tactical FPS gameplay. Alone or with a team, you must carefully equip your load-outs and explore each floor of the mysterious facility.
The gameplay loop revolves around completing each floor and earning currency, which is then used to upgrade your equipment, unlock new weapons, upgrade abilities, buy ammo, and more. You can do this either solo or co-op. The game also promises interactive puzzles, unique bosses, multiple builds, and difficulty customization for each run.
There is also a PvPvE mode called Wager, where you battle against other survivors. Everyone has one life and is limited to one load-out selection. Each player then wages money into a pool, collected by the last ones standing at the end of the round. Besides this, you have the usual assortment of weapon skins to collect.
The storyline is very vague in the best of creepypasta traditions - your team has been sent to a mysterious facility in Alaska, rife with reports of missing civilians and researchers in "The Backrooms." Your team must enter the facility and search for missing people. You must explore the complex in a mysterious elevator that takes you from one floor to the next. Simple but effective.
The game is set to release on 22nd February on Steam, which is pretty soon.
