Sony announces a new Cinema Line for camera products of this caliber
Sony has introduced its new Cinema Line, which, presuming it does what it says on the tin, is a new category for the ultra-high-end digital units for professional, up-to-conventional-studio creators made by this OEM. The company has announced that product names such as the FX9 and VENICE have already been moved under this new umbrella.
The VENICE, for example, is a 35-millimeter (mm) full-frame PL- or E-mount unit rated for 4K recording at up to 120 frames per second (fps), in up to 6K RAW at 25fps or HD ProRes 422HQ at up to 60fps. Sony touts it as "a first choice for digital movie production".
The FX9, on the other hand, "has an outstanding track record in documentary production". It will be joined by a new model, the FX6, in the Cinema Line soon. Sony currently plans to have it on the market by by the end of 2020. This digital cinema unit will be followed by an updated FX9 Version 3 in 2021.
