The PlayStation 5 will have the "best line-up in the history of PlayStation", according to a Sony executive as global promo lands
The lead up to the launch of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) is hotting up. It has been over two months since Sony unveiled its next-generation console, and now it has dropped the first global promo video for the PS5. The video is only just over a minute long, during which Sony dramatises the effects of the console's haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and 3D spatial audio.
The video has been viewed almost 1.5 million times since going live on August 20. However, most commenters have been poking fun at the lack of pricing details, rather than talking about the console itself. Recent leaks have suggested that the PS5 will launch for US$499/€499, while the Digital Edition will come in at US$100/€100 less.
Sony has emphasised that the PS5 is more than just a sum of its features. According to Eric Lempel, SVP and Head of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), who was interviewed by Gamesindustry.biz, the PS5 is "about the content". Lempel added:
The content that will be in the launch window and beyond is incredibly exciting. I would say that this is the best line-up that we've ever seen in the history of PlayStation...
Sony has already revealed some of the content that will be available for the PS5 at launch. However, Lempel has stressed that "naturally there will be more to come".
