The launch of Sony's next Xperia flagship is unlikely to occur before spring 2026 rolls around after Samsung replaces its current Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,099 on Amazon). Nonetheless, a few clues already exist about the Xperia 1 VIII and how it could differ from the current Xperia 1 VII. For instance, Qualcomm confirmed in September that Sony would be one of the many Android OEMs to adopt its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
Subsequently, early references to the Xperia 1 VIII appeared on a network carrier wesbite, which were promptly followed up by fresh sightings alongside a second unreleased Xperia smartphone. Now, The Walkman Blog indicates that PM-1520-BV through PM-1525-BV model numbers have been added to the same database.
While not much on the face of it, these six model numbers mirror those that Sony created for the Xperia 1 VII. As a result, the website now believes that the Xperia 1 VIII will receive a release across Europe too, although a North American launch remains unlikely. The same is true for the presumed Xperia 10 VIII, which should be available in the same markets as its flagship counterpart.
