Someone made a Black Myth: Wukong 2D pixel game demo for Android and PC, and it looks great ↺
Black Myth: Wukong is probably one of the biggest games of the year so far - and it still continues to inspire fan creations. One fan, 火山哥哥 (machine translates to Volcano brother) decided to take that experience into an entirely different direction, creating a 2D pixel demo of the game. While the original game is all about stunning visuals and engrossing combat, this pixel adaptation taps into the nostalgia of old-school gaming, similar to classics like Double Dragon.
The creator, obviously a passionate fan, clearly worked hard to bring this retro version to life, even staying up all night to fix bugs for the initial 0.1b release. The best part? It’s available for free on PC and Android here (you will have to make an account/log in to download the files), and the community is already diving in, sharing their own gameplay experiences and offering feedback. In the video posted on bilibili.com, the dev explains how he coded various aspects of the game. So far, he has only developed chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong (see our benchmarks for the game here), and we can see him fighting Elder Jinchi, the first secret area boss in the game. Take a look at a clip from the full video below:

This version may not have the jaw-dropping graphics of the original, but it offers something special—a simple, nostalgic take on Wukong's epic adventure. And for those who miss the days of pixelated side-scrollers, it’s a neat little throwback to an era of gaming many people still hold close to their hearts.
