Some official tweets hint at Android Q for the Honor 10 and 8X
Some recent reports have covered indications from Honor that they will update a relatively large number of older devices to the latest version of EMUI, the applicable skin for Android. They include the Honor 10 and 8X, which, despite the fact that their flagship days are now well behind them, are in line for upgrades to EMUI 9.1.
This OS, however, is still based on Android 9.0 (Pie); serendipitiously enough, Android's 10th-anniversary edition will be skinned by EMUI 10 on Honor phones when it is released. Some users have become curious about the likelihood that their 8Xs or 10s will also see this upgrade.
When these questions were put to the brand on Indian Twitter, the official response went like this: "We would like to inform you that our software team has already evaluated and confirmed the compatibility of Android Q upgrade with [both phones]".
Some outlets have taken this as confirmation that the 8X and 10 will indeed see a version of EMUI 10. However, this presumes that Honor - or rather, its parent Huawei - has no further conflict with the current US government that prevents them from licensing Android again in the future.
In addition, Honor India has said that their developers have "evaluated and confirmed the compatibility" of this update with the 2 devices, nothing more. This does not necessarily mean that the software will indeed ever be pushed to either phone.
