A new Honor 20 variant can be pre-booked in China right now
Honor apparently has a new version of its recent 20-series flagships in the works. This model is known as the 20S, and is currently being teased on the Chinese retail site Jingdong (or JD.com) as a new, possibly youth-focused product.
Honor is also clearly marketing the 20S as a selfie-centric phone. This is apparent in its retention of the 20 Pro and 20's 32MP front-facing camera, which also remains in its punch-hole location within its screen. However, it has triple rear cameras, whereas the 2 older phones have quadruple shooters.
The nature of this display is yet to be specified on its JD.com page; however, its model number, YAL-AL50, can be detected on it. A phone with the same number has recently been certified by TENAA. It shows that the putative 20S shares a 6.26-inch screen with the rest of this 2019 line. Its rear cameras, a 48+8+2MP configuration, are also spoiled in this leak.
The YAL-AL50's TENAA documentation also discloses the 2 RAM/internal storage SKUs to be sold via JD.com: a 6GB/128GB base model and an 8GB/128GB top-tier alternative. This certification also mentions a 12GB RAM model, as well as SKUs in which the fixed storage is doubled; however, JD will apparently not offer these options yet.
To date, the 2 current offerings are set at a price of 9998 yuan (about US$1398); however, this is likely to be a placeholder during its reservations stage. The actual prices will be revealed once the Honor 20S goes on actual pre-order on September 4, 2019.
