The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is on the way. From all available information, the TSMC-made Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 refresh is scheduled to launch in May and will power most of the flagships that will debut in H2.
According to Chinese leaker It's Fat, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus will be quite a bit more expensive than the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Supposedly, the newer chipset will be 20% more expensive, which could well lead to a slight bump in prices across flagship phones. This wouldn't be a novelty, as the Snapdragon 865 was widely said to cost more than the Snapdragon 855, leading to an industry-wide rise in flagship prices. The Samsung Galaxy S20 was, for example, US$100 more expensive than the Galaxy S10.
Supposedly, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus will mostly maintain the technical specifications of the vanilla Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. As such, the leaker reaches a rather pessimistic conclusion: the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus will offer better thermals and sustained performance than the regular model, but will remain inferior to the MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
