Sleek Sony Xperia 1 VI unofficial concept video accompanies new rumors about incoming small but significant upgrades
A new concept video from Science and Knowledge has focused on the Sony Xperia 1 VI, with the basis of the rumors included in the clip coming from a recent Reddit post that we reported on. Along with the details mentioned in the video (embedded below), there have been some rumors about the Xperia 1 VI posted elsewhere that indicate numerous obvious and subtle upgrades.
The most obvious upgrade between the Sony Xperia 1 V and a Mark 6 variant of the device would be the processor, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC likely being onboard for the 2024 model. However, a fan wish-list post on the Esato forum has attracted a response that claims at least some of those wishes (“the first three” listed) could come true. As is pointed out in the same reply, Sony will already have the Xperia 1 VI specs internally confirmed, so specs leaks can be expected.
It seems that along with the upgraded chip, the Xperia 1 VI could also be treated to an LTPO panel, presuming the post responder actually has accurate information or knowledge of the Mark 6 development. This would be a decent upgrade over the Xperia 1 V as it would allow for dynamic adjustment on the display, leading to power savings for the battery.
Other wishes that are “likely to be realized” include 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The international variant of the Xperia 1 V has 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, whereas the Japan-only model comes with a higher 16 GB + 512 GB configuration. So, the above purported Sony Xperia 1 VI specs would only be an upgrade if it was in regard to the international version of the phone.
