Motorola smartphone with upgraded rear camera design shows up in new leak
There may be evidence of the next generation of smartphone design out there, even if it comes from a slightly unexpected quarter. An upcoming Motorola device is depicted as ditching the usual multi-layer rear camera hump for a smooth, almost bubble-like housing for dual lenses, one of which might be for a 50MP camera.
The Android smartphone world has become full of camera humps seemingly made to resemble that of an iPhone as much as possible. However, there is a sign that OEMs might finally move away from that look in 2024.
A device with the convincingly Motorola model number of XT-2417 looks much like a growing number of handsets that follow the dualrearcamera trend on the market in its new render posted by Evan Blass (@evleaks) - except that this one seems to have an updated hump type.
With its cleaner, rounded edges in place of stacked lens shrouds, it does indeed look like a former OPPO flagship, as Blass points out. Therefore, it is possible that OEM was more than a little prescient in terms of smartphone design - then again, as the Find X3 Pro taught us, making a replica for new smartphones might prove more difficult than normal.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
