Google Pixel 6a: Promotional images leak ahead of July availability
Evan Blass has shared promotional images of the Pixel 6a, a smartphone that Google unveiled in May at I/O 2022. With pre-orders due to open on July 21, Google claims that it will begin shipping the Pixel 6a a week later from July 28. Incidentally, hands-on videos have already emerged, courtesy of a well-known YouTuber and Google France.
Reproduced below, the promotional images highlight that Google will market the Pixel 6a based on its camera capabilities. However, the Pixel 6a features Google's favoured 12.2 MP camera, which it debuted in the Pixel 3 series. The Pixel 6a contains the same ultra-wide-angle camera as the rest of the Pixel 6 series, but the lack of a 50 MP primary camera will ensure that the Pixel 6a's camera capabilities will lag behind what the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
Also, Google will promote the Pixel 6a based on its ability to help in your daily life, such as its Live Translate feature. While Live Translate is not new, offline translation launched with the Pixel 6 series, courtesy of the Google Tensor SoC. Incidentally, another promotional image shows the Pixel 6a' fingerprint scanner, supposedly an improved sensor over the ones found in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
